This Rakhi has a special story, the importance of the most precious bond between siblings. Every Hindu festival has mythological significance. There are legitimate reasons for the celebration. The religious epics of Hinduism are the source of all Hindu rituals and festivals. The legend of “Bhavishya Puran” tells us about the war between gods and demons.
King Brutra, the leader of the demons, had an advantage over the gods led by Indra. When they were on the verge of failure, Indra sought the help of master Brihaspati. Brihaspati asked Indra to tie a sacred thread on his wrist that was propelled by the sacred mantra on Shravan Purnima. The Queen of Indra, Sachi, also known as Indrani, empowers the thread and binds it to his hands on the appointed day.
The power of the sacred thread called “Rakshasa” helped the gods to victory. Since then, the Raksha Bandhan ceremony has been performed during Sharvana Purnima. According to another legend, the devil Bali is a follower of Vishnu. Lord Vishnu left his residence to become the protector of the kingdom of Bali. Lord Vishnu’s wife Laxmi wants her husband back.
So she disguised herself as a Brahmin and took refuge in Bali until her husband returned. On the day of Shravan Poornima, the god Laxmi Rakhi bound with the Balinese king and released Narayana.
