TDP and Jana Sena announce alliance for 2024: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Jana Sena Party (JSP) have announced their alliance for the upcoming assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, which are expected to be held in April or May 2024. The two parties have also declared their first list of candidates for 118 seats out of the total 175 in the state assembly. The alliance was announced by TDP national president and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and JSP chief and actor Pawan Kalyan at a joint press conference on Saturday, February 24, 2024.
The TDP-JSP alliance is seen as a major political development in the state, as it aims to challenge the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and its chief minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who came to power with a landslide victory in the 2019 elections. The YSRCP had won 151 seats in the assembly and 22 out of the 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state, reducing the TDP to 23 and the JSP to one seat in the assembly. The TDP had also lost four of its Rajya Sabha MPs to the YSRCP in the last five years.
The TDP and the JSP have decided to contest on 94 and 24 assembly seats respectively, while leaving the remaining 57 seats for their other alliance partners, such as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Left parties. The TDP will also contest on 17 Lok Sabha seats, while the JSP will contest on three. The alliance has not yet finalized its chief ministerial candidate, but both Naidu and Kalyan have expressed their willingness to work together for the welfare of the state and its people.
The TDP-JSP alliance has claimed that it is the need of the hour to save Andhra Pradesh from the misrule and corruption of the YSRCP government, which has allegedly failed to fulfill its promises and has neglected the development and welfare of the state. The alliance has also accused the YSRCP of indulging in political vendetta, suppressing the opposition, and violating the constitutional and democratic norms. The alliance has vowed to restore the glory and dignity of Andhra Pradesh and to work for the interests of all sections of the society, especially the farmers, the youth, the women, and the backward classes.
The TDP-JSP alliance has also released its common manifesto, which outlines its vision and agenda for the state. The manifesto promises to implement the welfare schemes and development projects that were initiated by the TDP government under Naidu’s leadership, such as the farm loan waiver, the pension scheme, the housing scheme, the irrigation projects, the capital city development, the Polavaram project, the special category status, and the bifurcation issues. The manifesto also promises to introduce new schemes and policies to address the challenges and opportunities in the fields of education, health, employment, industry, agriculture, infrastructure, and social justice.
The TDP-JSP alliance has expressed its confidence that it will win the trust and support of the people of Andhra Pradesh and will emerge victorious in the 2024 elections. The alliance has also appealed to the people to vote for the TDP-JSP candidates and to reject the YSRCP and its false propaganda. The alliance has said that it will work for the unity and harmony of the state and will protect its rights and interests from the central and the neighbouring governments.
The TDP-JSP alliance has also launched a massive campaign to reach out to the voters and to highlight its achievements and promises. The alliance leaders, including Naidu and Kalyan, have been addressing rallies, meetings, and roadshows across the state, and have been interacting with the people and the media. The alliance has also been using social media and other platforms to spread its message and to counter the allegations and criticism of the YSRCP and its leaders.
The TDP-JSP alliance is expected to face a tough contest from the YSRCP, which has also announced its first list of candidates and has started its campaign. The YSRCP has claimed that it has fulfilled most of its promises and has delivered good governance and development in the last five years. The YSRCP has also accused the TDP-JSP alliance of being opportunistic and power-hungry, and of having no credibility or vision for the state. The YSRCP has said that it will expose the failures and corruption of the TDP-JSP alliance and will seek a fresh mandate from the people on the basis of its performance and record.
The 2024 Andhra Pradesh assembly elections are expected to be a high-stakes and high-voltage battle between the TDP-JSP alliance and the YSRCP, with both sides leaving no stone unturned to woo the voters and to secure their victory. The elections will also have a significant impact on the national politics, as Andhra Pradesh is one of the largest and most populous states in the country, and has a crucial role in the formation and functioning of the central government. The elections will also determine the future and fate of Andhra Pradesh and its people, who have been witnessing a turbulent and tumultuous political scenario since the bifurcation of the state in 2014.
